Yesterday we helped Janet out at Village Summit. We had the pleasure of accompanying her in making flower arrangements for the upcoming Freshman College welcoming banquet. We made 85 small arrangements for the dining tables and a few big ones for the buffet lines. Janet taught us how to properly groom the flowers and about oasis. Oasis is a spongy material that you put in the flower vases so that the flowers will hold in a nice stiff arrangement and still have adequate water absorption. Mattie is getting so domestic, I'm very proud of her...although her arrangement just wasn't as good as Janet's...but that is hard to beat. Look at this lovely work of art
We later continued to work on our ACI Food Pro project for a couple hours. In the afternoon, we joined a meeting for the student dietitian group on campus that is lead by Kathryn and Ben (the RD's on campus). We sat through 3 presentations on different fad diets; Weight Watchers, Special K, and Gluten Free. These students are practicing their presentation skills on various nutrition topics so that they can give presentations throughout the school year to different student groups on campus. I would love to do something like that at my school, it's a neat program that they have going on.
